Within Target the 'Pricing, Promotions & Clearance' organisation is responsible for all forms of pricing in Target. A whole host of products are being evolved to build the next generation of Pricing solutions in Target.

Team Overview:

The 'Regular Price Management' team owns the management of the regular retail prices for Target. This includes our stores and online business. At any given point in time there are close to 2 billion price points at Target. This engineering team is tasked with decisioning and managing all of these prices at scale. We build solutions for Target that directly impact the revenue and bottom line of the organisation. Doing all of this at scale requires a high performance team with highly skilled engineers working together to build a world class pricing product.

Position Overview:

As a Senior Engineer, you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the product. You will use your technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized area(s) of the technology domain. Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target’s technical environment, maintainability, and cost of ownership. Initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies. Lead and conduct code review, design review, testing, and debugging activities at the application level. Participate in routine and non-routine construction, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements and best practices met. Provide technical oversight and coach others to resolve complex and severe technical issues.

About You:

  • Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles.

  • Demonstrable ability to optimize complex multi-page web applications using techniques like server side rendering, CDN optimization, React JS, Webpack, etc.

  • Strong advocate of good engineering practices.

  • Ability to architect solutions using frontend technologies.

  • Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools.

  • Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model.

  • Prior experience with popular React.js workflows (such as Redux).

  • Familiarity with more current specifications of EcmaScript.

  • Good knowledge of HTML / CSS.

  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.

  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education.

  • Work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack.

  • Review team member's work and share's knowledge.
