Target Sr. Manager - Tech Communications in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota

The pay range is $89,700.00 - $161,500.00

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications. As a Senior Manager in Target Tech, leading Tech Communications, you will be responsible for crafting and delivering clear, consistent messaging that informs, inspires, and unites our tech team. The communication activities are executed to provide clarity of our tech strategy, building confidence and pride in Target tech, and strengthening our culture and reputation inside and outside Target.

The Tech Communications team has the following primary responsibilities: leading the strategy, development and execution of internal communications to the Target tech team; supporting executive and officer communications internally and externally; creating and measuring communication platforms; and defining and refreshing the Target tech brand. Alongside the Tech Talent and Engagement team, you will help deliver internal engagement moments across Target tech and our key partners and will evolve our strategy and approach for this over time. Externally, you will establish a strategy for key moments for Target tech and support the presenters in these forums. You will develop a strategy and approach for industry engagement and external branding that is consistent with Target tech values and priorities. You will build and develop a team to deliver these responsibilities and establish a team culture that drives engagement, growth, and connection.

  • Participate in IT strategy development; translate IT strategy into vision, strategy, and approach for Target tech communications

  • Increase team member understanding and buy-in of Target’s tech strategy and progress to help drive efficiency and engagement

  • Strengthen the exchange of information across tech pyramids to better enable collaboration and speed of innovation

  • Leverage communication to build tech acumen and strengthen key cross-functional relationships

  • Position Target as a retail tech leader and bolster our tech brand to better support hiring, retention and industry partnerships

  • Develop healthy and trusted relationships with partner teams including senior tech leaders and Enterprise Communications

  • Manage/Lead a high performing, diverse team including career development activities and performance management

  • Engage with industry partners and drive industry advancement consistent with Target tech values

  • Stay current with industry knowledge and trends

  • Encourage continuous learning within the team

About you:

  • Understands basic retail functions and technology operations

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience

  • 3-5 years leadership experience

  • Top-notch communications, writing, investigative reporting and editing skills.

  • Understanding of how to communicate information clearly and creatively, andability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Experience with new and evolving communication strategies across mediums

  • Proven ability to guide an evolving organization, using change management principles to achieve strategic goals

  • Strong executive presence and the ability to establish a clear vision and marshal team member resources to bring it to life.

  • Proven skills in relationship development, project management, and issue resolution while leading people and cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while successfully delivering results within needed timelines. Strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve continuous improvements by introducing methods and processes, challenging current processes to drive business objectives

  • Stays current with new and evolving technology trends

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
